What You Learn in the Eighth Grade

Fifth grade learning paths build on previous years.  We have added a couple of standards from the State of California but your state may be slightly different.  Not all subjects are available for every grade.  Activities to supplement your new understanding of what your child is learning at each grade will follow soon so stay tuned!

  • Eighth Grade Social Studies and Geography

    Students in grade eight study the ideas, issues, and events from the framing of the Constitution up to the Industrial Revolution. also America’s role in WWI. Map skills continue with time zones and bio-diversity. Identify countries on different continents.

  • Eighth Grade Art

    In eighth grade art, students continue to expand their experience with different media. Projects include drawing, painting college and collage, but also sculpture, jewelry and metal work. Although we reserve digital art to high school students, eighth graders may want to produce short films. They get exposed to the biographies of a number of artists and their works. They further explore the four strands of an art education: art appreciation, art history, art production and art criticism.
